What in the world kind of college education racked up 175k in student loans?
Thats about 90k for each of you, and your salaries dont support making the decision to spend that much on student loans. Why would any person spend 90k on student loans to work for 45k per year?
Paying for private school for your child and carrying 175k in student loan debt is discretionary. Plenty of kids succeed with a public education, and there is no worldly reason to spend 175k on college unless you’re going into an incredibly high paying career field. More modest decisions would free up more cash.
100k doesnt go as far as it used to, but it appears as though your desires are more expensive than your budget can sustain…
